7 precautions you should take to prevent unessecary damage to your home.

make sure your eaves (gutters) are flowing freely and not backing up, and water is directed away from the home.

make sure your hot water tank is in good working condition, try not to have the thermostat turned up to max unless you want to replace sooner than needed.

wooden siding should be re-sealed or painted at least every 5 years. This also depends on your weather and climate conditions.

Replace any exterior caluking that has shrunk or cracked with a urethane based caulking, painters caulking is ok but not the best choice in todays marketplace.

Make sure all your water pipes are insulated and protected from the elements. No one wants to come home to a flooded house, especially in the winter time!.

Check your roof to make sure there is no missing shingles or punctures. Replacing and repairing them now in advance will save you thousands in the future. Also remove any organic matter growing such as moss.

Make sure not to flush large unecessary objects down toilet or sinks because when you finally call a plumber it becomes very expensive really fast.
